The concert ends with one of the most important symphonies in music history: Beethoven himself is said to have considered his Eroica symphony the most important of his symphonic works. The composition originally intended for Napoleon set standards for an entire epoch in terms of layout, form and content and made the symphony finally the most important and largest instrumental genre on which generations of composers were measured.
