Spanish pianist Martín García García receives the Sir Jeffrey Tate Prize 2022.
The award ceremony took place as part of a festive concert conducted by Sylvain Cambreling, Music Director of the Symphony Orchestra, on Thursday, 14 April 2022, at 7.30 pm in the Laeiszhalle.
The Sir Jeffrey Tate Prize of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, endowed with 10,000 euros, initiated and sponsored by Annegret and Claus-G. Since 2020, Budelmann has been awarded every two years to exceptionally talented young musicians.
The jury of the 2022 Sir Jeffrey Tate Prize includes Annegret and Claus-G. Budelmann, Sylvain Cambreling, Gioacchino Lanza Tomasi, Christoph Lieben-Seutter, Ann Murray DBE.
Pianist born in Gijón, Spain. Educated at Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid & Mannes School of Music in New York.
First prize in several national and international competitions, highlighting his victory at 2021 Cleveland International Piano Competition, and his 3rd Prize at XVIII International Chopin Piano Competition (and the special award for the Best Concerto).
